By piercing a through-channel in the blank prior to or concurrent with hot pressing, surplus fiber material is redistributed around the channel, providing adequate material volume for the male tool to push into the female mold cavity without pulling the blank apart. The resulting shaped products serve as sustainable, recyclable alternatives to EPS foam cushioning inserts in packaging.
